Major General Gene LeBoeuf assumed responsibility as the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command on 6 October 2022. In this capacity he oversees 26 of the the Army Reserve Operational, Functional, Training, and Support Commands located in the Continental United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Germany. Prior to this assignment he served as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Forces Command. Major General LeBoeuf began his military career as an Army Technical Enrichment Program Fellow at Northwestern University, after which he served in multiple positions with the 2d Engineer Battalion (Combat) (BN), 2d Infantry Division, South Korea; Deputy Area Commander, Nashville District, Army Corps of Engineers, Pineville, Kentucky; BN Maintenance Officer, 12th Engineer BN (Combat), 3rd Armored Division (Desert Storm); Assistant BN S3, 554th Engineer BN, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and Instructor and Doctrine Writer, United States Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Additionally, he has served as the Commanding General, 79th TSC; Acting Commanding General and Deputy Commanding General for United States Army Africa and Director of its Army Reserve Engagement Cell, Vicenza, Italy; Instructor, United States Military Academy for the Department of Systems Engineering, with follow-on assignments including a joint billet as Engineer Plans and Logistics Officer for United States Pacific Command at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii; Assistant Division Commander(IMA), Pacific Ocean Division, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; Commander, 1-100th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade, 102nd Division (Maneuver Support), Knoxville, Tennessee; Military Chief, Emergency Operations, Pacific Ocean Division, Fort Shafter, Hawaii; Commander, United States Army COE’s Contingency Response Unit, 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC), Washington, D.C.; and Chief of Staff, 416th TEC, Darien, Illinois. Upon selection to brigadier general, he served as Deputy Commanding General for Operations, 416th TEC; and Deputy Commanding General and Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Army University and Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Born in Indiana, Major General LeBoeuf graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the United States Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program and received a Regular Army commission in the United States Army Corps of Engineers in May 1985. He is a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering; Northwestern University with a Master of Science (M.S.) in Industrial Engineering and Management Science; Stanford University with a M.S. in Civil Engineering; The University of Michigan with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) in Environmental Engineering; and the United States Army War College with a Master of Strategic Studies. In his civilian capacity, MG LeBoeuf serves as Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed technical publications, including four United States patents, and is a recipient of the United States National Science Foundation’s Faculty CAREER Award. He is a registered Professional Engineer, Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer, and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer.
