Tennessee Honor Vote

Willingham, Mr William Earl

Branch: Army
Rank: Staff Sergeant
Years of Service: 30 Sep 1967 Vietnam
I honor my Dad every day. SSG "Bill" Willingham is my Dad. He was from Charles Town, West Virginia. He was a proud 11B (infantryman). He was 26 when he died in Vietnam. My Mom became a widow at 25 pregnant with my kid sister. I was 5. Dad's last unit was HHC 2/502 Fort Cambell. He enjoyed the outdoors, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, God, country, and family. My Mom is part of the Gold Star family. I was born at Fort Cambell. Rather than going off to (free) college, I enlisted and followed Dad's footsteps. I also served at Fort Campbell. Mom never remarried. She passed in 1997...30 years after Dad. They're buried in my Mom's hometown, Morgantown, Kentucky. They left behind 2 daughters and 11 grandchildren. Four of the grandchildren and I are veterans. God bless America and our military personnel and their families.
