He served as interpreter for the Berlin Brigade after leaving Fort Benning in 1984. He left the Army upon returning, however was called back into service for Desert Storm and later during Enduring Freedom, serving in Afghanistan as commander of the NY110th Calvary in Osadabad. There he acted as an construction emmisary with the tribal leaders, setting up construction improvement programs and acting as a peace envoy to those tribes. During his time in country, the troops encountered enemy troops and took defensive actions on many occasions. In the end, the federal government released him from service just weeks before his 20 year service would have happened. He was faithful in duty, the son of a Veitnam Veteran.
