My grandfather was wounded the first time in the Battle of the Philippines where he earned a Purple Heart. He healed and was then put back in active duty and wounded in Battle of Okinawa in which he earned an Oak Leaf Cluster. I am not sure of his actual dates of service as he is no longer with us but am giving an approximation.
